Well, it’s been a minute since we left Page, AZ and headed towards Colorado for the summer. Life got crazy, lots of things have been happening—which I’m excited to catch you up on in future posts, but for now, time to finish what I started. In this blog, I’ll be covering part two of our Texas to Colorado road trip — from Page, AZ to Grand Junction, CO and all of the places we visited along the way.

We left Page and headed towards Moab, but not without pit stops that ended up totally derailing our plans (per usual, haha). First, we stopped at Monument Valley and it was simply breathtaking. We could have spent hours, and even days there, so definitely plan for that when you visit. We were towing our RV and hoping to make it to Moab for the night, so it had to be a quick stop for us. There is a scenic 17-mile dirt road that takes you through the Tribal Park, but since we had our RV we would have had to disconnect and leave our trailer. I think this would have been possible, and we’d love to go back and do this someday. We just didn’t plan ahead for a place to stay overnight, but just seeing it was 100% worth the detour.

After Monument Valley, we had to stop at Forrest Gump Point of course. Another stunning landscape that was totally worth it. From there, we passed by Valley of the Gods. We really wanted to stop (and even considered parking in the area for the night) but the road we passed was SO steep… There was no way we were taking our RV down it, so we’ll save that for next time.

We decided to push on to Moab for the night—which meant a rest area after dark. We were just happy to relax after a hectic travel day with lots of stops. The next morning, we woke up and drove about an hour into Moab. We came across the most beautiful state park campground along the Colorado River, and posted up for a few days.

Moab is such a cool town! We have been before a few years ago when we went to Arches National Park. They usually have unique town events going on, great breweries, and a cute town to just walk around in. Plus, Arches, Canyonlands, and Dead Horse Point are not far at all. This could easily be a weeklong adventure town, for sure! This time, we stayed for 4 days and visited Canyonlands National Park (Island in the Sky entrance) and Dead Horse Point State Park. Both were fantastic, each including their own scenic drives. We stopped at Dead Horse Point on our way to Canyonlands and walked around to the different overlooks. This was such an incredible spot—there was hardly anyone there and the views were endless, stunning, and just filled with a silence that's rare to find at National Parks often times.

At Canyonlands, we hiked up to the Mesa Arch—a short but epic hike! The views go on forever and ever. Drive the scenic road and stop at each overlook to really make the most of it. Also, highly recommend packing a lunch/picnic and just making a day out of it. Honestly, I’d also recommend making a day of each of these parks! I feel like we didn’t get to explore them enough doing both in one day!

When we packed up camp in Moab (and the stars are amazing!!), we only had about 2 hours to Grand Junction. When we first heard of Grand Junction and started researching it, we thought this might be the town for us! So, we set our eyes on this destination and didn’t know if we’d love it and potentially want to buy property… or if we wouldn’t like it and opt to continue onwards.

It’s safe to report that we do love this area! We actually ended up in Palisade, which is only about 20 minutes from Grand Junction, and we have had such an incredible and very different summer than we ever could have expected! We will have LOTS to share about this area, and will probably make a dedicated blog for it. For now, we will share a few of the things we have really loved in the area.

Grand Junction has a lively downtown area with lots of neat shops, delicious food, and great breweries! Trail Life Brewing, Ramblebine Brewing, and Taco Party are some of our favorites! The city is also surrounded by adventure—from a scenic drive in the Colorado National Monument to hiking in the Grand Mesa National Forest, there are endless things to do. Visiting Palisade, Colorado is a MUST when you’re in the area. We have genuinely fallen in love with this town. It’s Colorado’s wine country—which we didn’t know was a thing and it’s amazing. The seasonal farmer’s market, featuring their famous peaches, is my favorite farmers market of all time.

We can’t wait to share more about this beautiful valley that we’ve spent the last 6 months exploring (wow! We’ve never stayed anywhere this long…). And to share some exciting things that have happened for us during this time!

Check out our YouTube video to tag along with us on this road trip, and we’ll see you all soon! As always, let me know if you have any questions in the comments below.

Happy travels :)
