We’re Gracen and Austin, The Happy Nomads!

In 2023, we decided to move into our RV full-time and travel while we had remote work opportunities. We were burnt out from our corporate jobs, and feeling unfulfilled in our stationary apartment lifestyle. Gracen had purchased our RV in 2020 for her intended career path as a wildlife technician traveling for seasonal work. We took the RV out of storage and decided to give it a try without any real plan at all!

 

We have visited so many beautiful places since embarking on this journey, including Glacier National Park, Yellowstone, the Pacific Northwest, and the California coast. We have become full-time content creators, supplemented by Austin’s freelance graphic design work, to support this lifestyle. And our goal is to show other people that it’s possible to live a minimalistic lifestyle and travel full-time. Outside of our RV lifestyle, we also hope to inspire folks adventures and make them smile with our adventure kitties! 

 

Our backgrounds — Gracen grew up in Houston, Texas and studied Environmental Biology at the University of Texas at Austin. Her hobbies include writing, hiking, cooking, and pretty much anything outdoors. She worked for the Forest Service in 2021 and was living in our RV solo while studying endangered owls as her full-time job. She then became a remote marketing analyst for a corporation, which helped us get on the road full-time. Her dream is to make content creation and her poetry sustainable full-time jobs to fund our lifestyle. Gracen’s dream destination: Italy! 

 

Austin was born in the Bay Area of California and grew up in San Antonio, Texas. He went on to study Communication Design at Texas State University. His hobbies include photography, playing guitar, fishing, and going on spontaneous adventures. He worked for a design agency before pursuing a freelance career to travel in our RV full-time. Austin is now the full-time photographer, videographer, graphic designer, and editor behind Happy Nomads — oh, and also our driver! His dream is to live a life full of memories, not things. Austin’s dream destination: New Zealand!
