Pedestrian killed in road mishap in Koteshwor

A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a bus plying on the Kathmandu-Bhaktapur route at Pepsi Cola area near Koteshwor, Kathmandu, Friday morning.

Raja Ram Dahal, a local resident of Koteshwor, was killed on the spot when bus hit him at around 6:30 a.m. Police quoting eyewitnesses that Dahal, 35, had minor injuries when the bus first hit him but the driver, Jay Prajapati, drove back the bus and crushed him to death.

Police took the driver of the bus under control and was sent to Hanumandhoka police office for investigation, a police official the Koteshwor traffic police office told Nepalnews.

Irate locals set fire to the bus and vandalised few four wheelers playing on the route, according to the police. The vehicular traffic along the Kathmandu-Bhakatur road came to a standstill for hours as the locals continued demonstration. Source nepalnews.com mk Aug 18 06
